Electronics in Chinese cinematography has never been highly regarded in the science fiction genre, not only because the scripts are not up to par, but also because the special effects of Chinese cinema are not outstanding enough to create a blockbuster. It is even more difficult to succeed in the online streaming film genre without a large budget, making it hard to produce quality scenes. Snow Monster is a prime example of this challenge. Despite the attractive and high-quality poster design, following the film reveals a work that is lacking in quality. The film has mostly received negative reviews and clearly is not worth watching.
